Learn automation and AI online in French: a beginner's roadmap

Automation and AI are among the most useful skills to learn today, and you do not need a computer science degree to start. What you need is a clear order to follow and real projects to practise on. Here is a roadmap, then how our platform PDL helps.

Step 1: understand workflows and data

Learn what a workflow is: a trigger, some steps and a result. Learn what data looks like (tables, files, messages) and what an API is, which is simply how two programs talk to each other.

Step 2: build your first automations with n8n

n8n is a visual tool, so it is a good first step. Build a small workflow: when a form is filled, save the entry in a sheet and send a confirmation. Then add conditions and error handling. Our guide to n8n explains the basics.

Step 3: work with data

Learn to clean, store and read data: spreadsheets, databases and simple queries. Automation without good data produces wrong results quickly.

Step 4: add AI

Learn how language models work, how to write good instructions, and how to give a model your own documents so its answers stay accurate. Then add AI steps to your workflows: classify an email, extract data from an invoice, draft a reply.

Step 5: put it into production

Learn the basics of DevOps: servers, deployment, monitoring and security. A workflow that nobody watches is a risk, as we explain in our article on maintenance.

Step 6: build something real

The fastest way to learn is to automate a real task of your own work or business. Keep it small, finish it, then improve it.
